EXPRESS ENTRY

Express Entry is economic immigration program, designed to fill labour gaps in Canada. Express Entry is pathway for foreign nationals to obtain permanent residence in Canada. The applicants are assessed based on their skills and qualifications.

Express Entry used Comprehensive Ranking system (point based) that automatically ranks candidates according to their age, language abilities, work experience and qualification. To be eligible for Express Entry candidate must have English or French skills and minimum experience of one year is required.

Eligible candidates submit their profile to Canadian Express entry system and most competitive candidates get Invitation to apply complete application. Invitation does not assure the approval of application. The processing time of applications is much faster than other programs; most of the applications are processed within 6 months.

Applications are then assessed for following factors:

  • Application is checked if all documents are complete [R10]

  • Application is assessed to review the eligibility of candidate as per Express Entry requirements. Section 11.2 of IRPA.[22]

  • Medical Results are reviewed (R29)

  • Applicant may be asked for additional documents within specific timeframe.

  • Applicant may be called for interview.

  • Biometrics and Police clearance are required to check the criminality of applicant.

  • Final decision is given after all the steps of Background check ensuring applicant is admissible to Canada.[27]

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for Express Entry, candidates must meet the criteria for one of the following immigration programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program: For skilled workers with foreign work experience.

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program: For individuals qualified in a skilled trade.

  • Canadian Experience Class: For individuals with work experience in Canada.
